Stellenbeschreibung
Solaris is Europe's leading embedded finance platform. Solaris’ full German banking license and proprietary modular B2B tech stack empowers its partners – from SMEs to large, multinational, non-financial companies – to offer compliant, customer-centric banking services, providing seamless experiences to customers across all industries. Founded in 2016, Solaris pioneered the Banking-as-a-Service market with an unparalleled combination of tech and banking. Solaris is headquartered in Berlin and employs 300 people in Europe.
We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded Head of Process Architecture & Policy Management to lead our organizational and procedural governance. In this critical leadership role, you will hold end-to-end responsibility for the institution’s overarching process landscape and enterprise architecture. You will serve as the principal owner of the "Written Order Process" (Schriftlich fixierte Ordnung – SfO), ensuring that all corporate policies, procedures, and internal controls comply with German regulatory requirements (specifically BaFin and MaRisk). You will bridge the gap between regulatory compliance and operational excellence by driving continuous E2E process improvements, digitalization, AI, and the standardization of workflows across all business units.
Your Role
- Own, administer, and continuously develop the Schriftlich fixierte Ordnung (SfO) in strict adherence to MaRisk (specifically AT 5 / AT 6) and the German Banking Act (KWG).
- Establish a robust governance framework for the creation, approval, and lifecycle management of all internal corporate policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors regarding procedural documentation, process controls, and operational risk mitigation.
- Define and maintain the overarching enterprise process architecture, ensuring alignment with the bank’s strategic and IT target operating models.
- Guide the mapping and documentation of cross-functional, end-to-end (E2E) processes to eliminate siloes between front-office, back-office, and IT.
- Oversee the administration and utilization of Business Process Management (BPM) software (e.g., Signavio, ARIS, or similar platforms) to maintain a single source of truth for all process models.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks within existing workflows. Lead cross-functional initiatives to redesign and optimize processes.
- Act as a key driver for process automation (e.g., RPA, workflow automation, AI) and digitalization efforts, translating business needs into actionable IT requirements.
- Establish and monitor process KPIs and SLAs to ensure operational efficiency, quality control, and cost reduction.
We'd love to see
Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities and scope of role will range. We don’t care much about fancy titles, but rather about real personal and professional development, as laid out in our learning framework. Let’s figure together out how you can contribute to our team.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Informatics, or a Bachelor with related additional trainings in the related fields.
- Deep, provable expertise in the German banking regulatory environment, with a highly specialized focus on MaRisk (Mindestanforderungen an das Risikomanagement), particularly regarding the Schriftlich fixierte Ordnung (SfO).
- Strong background in Business Process Management (BPM) methodologies and enterprise architecture. High proficiency in process modeling standards (e.g., BPMN 2.0).
- Proven track record of applying process optimization methodologies such as Lean Management or Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt certification is a strong plus).
- Solid understanding of process automation tools, IT architecture, and digital transformation within the financial sector.
- Fluent in both German (mandatory for regulatory documentation) and English (written and spoken).
- Strong emotional intelligence to guide a team, manage resistance to change, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Comfortable working with AI tools, thinking critically about AI outputs, and contributing to a culture of responsible AI use. We expect you to demonstrate comfort with AI-assisted workflows and a willingness to continuously develop their AI capabilities as the technology evolves.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory or technical concepts into clear, actionable language for diverse stakeholders (ranging from developers to Board members).
- Ability to uphold regulatory standards and enforce policy adherence across all levels of the organization with diplomacy and firmness.
Benefits
- Home office budget.
- Learning & development budget of €1000 per year and a transparent growth framework to support your career goals.
- Competitive salary and a variable remuneration program.
- Monthly meal allowance.
- Deutschland ticket subsidy.
- 28 vacation days, increasing by 2 days after 2 years and 3 days after 3 years with Solaris.
- Opportunity to work abroad for up to 12 weeks per year.
